The EURO 2020 Qualifying is a men’s football tournament held from March 2019 to March 2020 to identify 24 national men’s soccer teams representing member states. under the European Football Federation (UEFA) will participate in the final of the European football championship 2020.
The tournament is linked to the 2018-19 UEFA Nations League, giving countries a second path to qualify for the final. For the first time since 1976, no team will automatically qualify for the European football championship as the host country.
There are 55 national teams participating in the qualifying process, with Kosovo joining for the first time.
◆ If two or more teams are equal in number of points when completing all matches in the groups, the following ranking criteria will apply
◆ The higher the number of points achieved in matches played between teams in the group.
◆ Goal difference in matches played between teams in the group table.
◆ Outstanding goal difference in matches played between teams in the table.
◆ The number of goals scored at home is higher in matches played between teams in the group table.
◆ If, after applying criteria 1 to 4, the teams still have the same rank, the criteria 1 to 4 will apply separately to matches between the mentioned teams to determine their final rank. If this does not make a decision, criteria 6 through 10 apply.
◆ The difference in goals in all matches in all groups.
◆ The number of goals scored is higher in all matches in all tables.
◆ The higher the number of away goals scored in all matches in all tables.
◆ The number of wins is higher in all matches of all tables.
◆ The number of away wins is higher in all matches of all tables.
◆ Fair play (fair play) in all matches of all groups (1 point for a yellow card, 3 points for the red card as a result of two yellow cards, 3 points for the red card direct, 4 points for the next yellow card is the direct red card).
◆ Position in the overall rankings of the European National Football Championship.
Criteria for overall rankings
To determine the overall EURO 2020 Qualifying, results against teams in sixth place will be eliminated and the following criteria applied
◆ Position in the tournament table.
◆ The higher the score.
◆ Difference between winning and losing.
◆ The number of goals scored is higher.
◆ The number of goals scored on the home court is higher.
◆ The number of wins is higher.
◆ The number of wins on away field is higher.
◆ Fair play (fair-play index) (1 point for a yellow card, 3 points for a red card results from two yellow cards, 3 points for red card directly, 4 points for next yellow card is card direct red).
◆ Position in the overall ranking of the UEFA Nations League.
The draw for the EURO 2020 Qualifying is held on December 2, 2018, at 12:00 CET (at 11:00 am local time) at the Dublin Convention Center in Dublin, the Republic of Ireland. The 55 teams will be drawn into 10 groups: 5 groups of five teams (Tables A – E) and 5 tables of six teams (Tables of F – J).
Teams are selected as seeds based on the overall rankings of the European Nations Football Championship 2018–19. The four teams that participated in the final of the European Cup of Nations Championship 2019 in June 2019 were put into a separate group and drawn into the A-D tables with only five teams so they only had to compete for eight qualifying matches, leaving two free matches for the Nations League Finals. The following restrictions are also applied by computer support.
◆ Home team: In order to allow all 12 teams from the host associations to the EURO 2020 Qualifying for first and second place in the group, up to two teams will be covered in every group: Azerbaijan, Italy, Denmark, England, Scotland, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Romania, Republic of Ireland, Russia, Spain.
◆ Political Conflict: The following pairs of teams cannot be drawn into the same table due to political conflicts: Gibraltar / Spain, Kosovo / Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo / Serbia. (Armenia / Azerbaijan and Russia / Ukraine have also been identified as political conflicts, but the teams in these pairs are in the same group for the draw.)
◆ Winter venues: Up to two teams identified as high or moderate risk locations for severe winter conditions will be included in each table: Belarus, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Russia, Ukraine.
◆ Excessive travel: Up to one pair of teams defined with excessive travel distance relative to other countries will be included in each table:
⚬ Azerbaijan: with Gibraltar, Iceland, Portugal.
⚬ Iceland: with Armenia, Cyprus, Georgia, Israel.
⚬ Kazakhstan: with Andorra, England, France, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Iceland, Malta, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Wales.
