EURO 2020 – All of Europe looks forward to the special edition

The final round of the European Football Championship EURO 2020 is an unprecedented special edition of the top football tournament in the “old continent”. Instead of being co-hosted by only one or two countries, this time the tournament will take place in 12 countries across Europe.

Special leagues

EURO is the most prestigious tournament in Europe at the team level, is considered even more “fierce” than the World Cup. In previous periods, there was only one host country or two co-host countries, but this period will be held on 12 stadiums in 12 cities in 12 countries across Europe, from June 12 to July 12, 2020. With that change, no team is entitled to special tickets to the finals, including the host countries. Therefore, the EURO this time became the most special tournament in history, unprecedented.

Explaining this special feature, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said: “2020 is the 60th anniversary tournament. The tournament will have 24 teams, so this will be an organizational burden for a country. Organizing in different countries will give cities or countries the chance to become part of a major event like the EURO, especially in the context of economic difficulties that make a country unable to invest enough for a big event. “

In the EURO 2020 qualifier, UEFA identified 20 teams participating in the finals (the top two teams in each group). The remaining 4 slots are determined through the UEFA Nations League.

In the UEFA Nations League 2018-19, there are a total of 16 matches. The top 16 teams will qualify for the playoffs for the EURO 2020 finals if they do not win their tickets in the usual way (qualifying the top 2 teams in each qualifying group).

If the team that leads the group in the UEFA Nations League has tickets for the UEFA EURO 2020 finals, the lower team will be awarded a play-off kick. Each tournament will only have 1 ticket to the finals, so 4 teams will have to compete (organize the semi-finals and finals). Play-off matches will only take place in the same league so weak teams still have a chance to win tickets to the Euro 2020 finals.

At the finals, 24 teams will be divided into 6 groups. The top two teams in each group, along with the top 3 ranked teams of the three, won the ticket to the knockout stage. The opening match was the match in Group A between Italy and Turkey which took place on June 12 in the capital of Rome (Italy).

For the countries that contribute to the EURO 2020, Europe’s biggest tournament is an opportunity for them to show their love for football, the most unique cultural features to attract tourists. With a variety of venues, this will be a real festival for all of Europe.

Special table

The draw to divide the table in a special format of the most special tournament in EURO history has “made” a lucky draw to bring Ronaldo’s Portuguese champion into the “death table” – Group F, with the world defending champion France and world champion 2014 Germany.

The journey to protect the European crown of Ronaldo and his teammates faced the greatest challenge right in the group stage when they were together with the two teams that won the last two World Cups champion, France and Germany.

At Euro 2016, on the championship journey, Ronaldo and his Portuguese team beat France in the final, and France beat Germany in the semi-finals. This is an opportunity for France and Germany to pay off the “borrowed debt”.

As the defending champion of the World Cup, the French team is rated slightly better at this time. Les Bleus’ record against Germany is also impressive. Although the Tank is the “old man” of the old continent without ever fearing any opponent, they lost to France 14 times, drew 8 and won only 9 in the previous meetings.

The last time France lost to Germany has been from the 2014 World Cup. Since then, having experienced 5 games, France won 3 times and drew 2. In the Nations League, France beat Germany 2-1 at home and drew 0- 0 away field. At the last encounter at EURO (EURO 2016), France eliminated Germany 2-0 in the semi-finals with a double from Antoine Griezmann.

But France was obsessed with Portugal, with a memory that it never wanted to remember was the Euro 2016 final. At that time, despite playing at home, France could not beat Portugal lost its captain. Cristiano Ronaldo from early. To 109 minutes in extra time, Eder stabbed a critical knife into the dream of the French championship at the Stade de France. Remember, for the previous 38 years, France kept meeting Portugal as the victory.

Germany, meanwhile, is Portugal’s star when the last four meetings have been in major tournaments, including the 2006 World Cup, EURO 2008, EURO 2012 and 2014 World Cup, and all tanks have won. first against the boys from the Iberian Peninsula.

These things will create an extremely unpredictable table in EURO 2020.

12 cities host the Euro 2020 finals:

London (England), Glasgow (Scotland), Dublin (Republic of Ireland), Rome (Italy), Baku (Azerbaijan), St Petersburg (Ngga), Copenhagen (Denmark), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Bucharest (Romania), Bilbao (Spain), Munich (Germany) and Budapest (Hungary).

The opening match of EURO 2020 will be held at Olimpico Stadium (Rome – Italy). Meanwhile, Wembley Stadium (London) is hosting the most matches (7 matches), including 3 group matches, 1 round of 1/8, 2 semi-finals and the final.
