According to the Norwegian press, Arsenal has completed a free transfer contract with 19-year-old winger George Lewis after he successfully tried it.
Arsenal completed the first contract in Summer 2020
The young Norwegian star went to Arsenal to apply for a trial in March 2020. In recent years, Lewis has impressed the Emirates coaching staff and has just been officially signed. In the immediate future, he will play for the Gunners U23 team.
Lewis is a speed winger and skillful. He has spent the past few years in Norway playing for low-level clubs like Tromso IL, Tromsdalen, and Fram Larvik.
The 19-year-old player was born in Kigali, Rwanda but soon moved to Norway to live from a young age. He also had a trial period at Ipswich last year but was not signed.
Lewis is not the only young player-coach Mikel Arteta wants to recruit. The Spanish teacher is aiming for PSG’s Adil Aouchiche. The 17-year-old has made three French appearances this season and is considered one of the best talents in Ligue 1.
Lewis’s acquisition by the Gunners was a surprise to his former teacher Jonathan Hill. “When Lewis first came to Arsenal, no one really expected him. I was very happy for him, but also a bit surprised,” Hill told Goal.
“He is in his early twenties but has never been close to the Norwegian youth team and doesn’t show too much talent. So this news comes as a surprise. But hopefully, he can do well in Arsenal”
Joins the race for ‘Second Kante’
Coach Mikel Arteta is planning to strengthen the midfield for Arsenal. According to British media, he has turned his attention to Brest midfielder Ibrahima Diallo.
Diallo is being nicknamed “Kante II” by playing the same position and style is similar to Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante. When football activities in Europe were not delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Arsenal sent scouts to take France to check the performance of Diallo in the 2019/20 season.
Express asserted that if you want to bring Diallo to the Emirates, the Gunners need to spend at least £ 20 million. This is not a lot of money if the north of London team sells striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer.
Aubameyang has only one year left on his contract with Arsenal. He has a lot of choices due to the pursuit of both Real, Barca and Inter. Based on the fact that Aubameyang was bought by Arsenal from Dortmund in 2018 for up to 56 million pounds, the 30-year-old Gabon promises to help Gunner earn a considerable amount of money if he moves elsewhere.
In January, the board of directors of Leicester used to be very enthusiastic and they even contacted Brest to ask to buy Diallo. However, the Fox’s £ 16 million offer was flatly rejected by the French representative.
